Alteryx Alternative For Os X

Alteryx Alternative For Os X 5,5/10 5278 votes

Open-source Alteryx Alternative After several years working in analytics, I recently moved to a new company. This new company does not have Alteryx, and this has become a major issue for me regarding the speed at which I'm able to work. Oct 24, 2017 As Alteryx runs on Windows, there are two ways to install Alteryx on a Mac: 1) Use Boot Camp. 2) Use a virtual machine product (emulates Windows within macOS) like VMWare, VirtualBox (open source), or Parallels, among others. Note that any of the above solutions require a Windows licens.

Activate a license offline (file activation)

As an alternative to online activation, you can submit a request for an activation (.bin) file, upload the .bin file to the Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal, and then use the .bin file to activate license keys on your computer. A separate license key is required for each product.

To activate Alteryx on a computer that is offline, you must have access to the Alteryx Downloads and Licenses portal on another computer so that you can upload the request (.req) file.
If you want to activate with a file, click Activate with File to open the Alteryx Alteryx Offline Activation window.

Create a request (.req) file from the offline computer:

  1. Open Alteryx Designer. If the Alteryx Designer Activation window does not open automatically, click Options > Manage Licenses > Activate New License.

  5. Click Save to save the activation (.bin) file so that you can access it from the offline computer.

Open the activation (.bin) file on the offline computer:

FAQsWhat information does Alteryx capture and store during the license activation process?

Alteryx captures and stores the information needed to activate and validate a license key on a device.

Alteryx uses FlexNet Operations (FNO) as a 3rd-party service to provide licensing administration. Alteryx is the producer of the license; a user is the user of the license. The FNO service captures and stores the information necessary to activate and validate a license key on a device.

License keys are user and device based. A license key is attached to a user’s email address and a device. The combination of a device or machine name together with a user's email address creates a device ID.

  • Online activation: The device ID is stored by FNO. FNO can then perform validation checks to ensure the license key is still valid.
  • Offline activation: The device ID is uploaded to FNO when the *.req file is uploaded during the offline activation process.

Can I install Alteryx on a virtual machine (VM)?

You may install an Alteryx license on a VM if your contract permits it. Please contact your sales representative for more information about enabling your Alteryx license on a virtual machine.

  • Server OS environment: You may install Alteryx on a Windows server operating system (OS) if your contract permits it. Contact your sales representative for more information about enabling your Alteryx license on Windows server OS.

  • Session-based VM: A session-based (non-persistent) VM will wipe out the license key information each time the user logs out. Since a license key is assigned to a device and an email address, one solution is to write a script to install the license key. Alteryx does not support any scripts you might create.
